Personal pages are the ideal place to experiment with different techniques, colours, and generally 'play', although I still wanted my pages to look good, be informational about me, easy to navigate, and be fairly fast loading.

The front page is a splash page because it was hosted on freenetname, which does have 20MB of hosting, but my site soon exceeded this limit so I have only uploaded the front page, although with a functional element which enters the site hosted on my ww2poster webspace.

  • I have slowly been redesigning and restructuring my personal webspace, to streamline it and make it less cumbersome to keep up to date.

  • The pages were intended for the use of my family and friends who are scattered around the UK and the world, and like to see my pictures. I am very slow at putting my physical photos into albums, etc. and so they appear here, although time constraints mean that this site is also behind.
  • Recently I have not had time to develop this (although I added quite a lot of information on Fair Trade), and the entire site needs a reassessment, and decisions as to which areas of the site to maintain, and which to lose. Friends like the photo pages, but it is the biggest problem for space, and with regard to Data Protection issues.

The new website design, currently in progress (reformatting and streaming needed).

  • I wanted to get rid of the rollover buttons, so that the pages would load faster, and wanted a clearer menu available on all pages, including on the right hand menu where my pet project (fair trade) is available, plus a link to Amazon and my 'wishlist' as people ask what I want for presents!
  • I want to learn how to create submenus in DHTML, or some such, but haven't yet learnt how to. This may decrease the size of the left hand bar.
  • I maintained a similar colour scheme to last time to provide some consistency, and continued to use a template with the same editable areas so that content transferred easily.
  • I have added a breadcrumbs menu at the top, although I am still entering data for this.

With various tweaks to the website, a smoother front-page, and a much newer photo, I think the front of the site looks a lot better, and hopefully loads just as fast.

  • Other areas of the site continue to be updated, but the photos section of the site certainly gets a lot of additions.
