Web design is a serious business,
and a lot of thought and planning is required.
There is no point throwing a lot of money at software,
development and research time, if the site does not
reach its target users, either through bad pre-site
planning, under-promotion, or a poor design which has
users leaving faster than they can load the page.
It
is generally recognised these days that most users want
a fast downloading site, but with more bandwidth
commonly available, there is a desire for some aesthetic
element to web sites: however with a range of mobile
platforms available. There is much that could be learnt
about web design and development techniques, but my
area of speciality is the initial research and brainstorming
which goes into developing the layout of a site,
and sourcing, or re-purposing pre-existing, information
to produce well-structured content.
If
you wish to see what I have already done in the way
of web design, please see my portfolio
of work and extensive experience of social
networking sites. Information is available in the
resources area
of the site from material I used for classes on 'searching
the web', and 'web usability and accessibility'. If
you wish to purchase my services,
please see what I have to offer.
